Quality Inspector

Job Summary: Inspects detail parts and assembly products for compliance with engineering blueprints and company standards; inspects incoming/outgoing parts/materials and test configurations; assists with static testing, ensures proper storage and inventory of parts and materials. Assists Shop Technicians when needed. Works under the direct supervision of Quality Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects detail parts and assembly products; compares parts and products to engineering blueprints and company standards to ensure compliance.
  • Recommends engineering changes based on results of inspection.
  • Coordinates engineering and planning changes as needed.
  • Coordinates non-conforming parts per applicable sections of the Quality Manual.
  • Compares incoming and outgoing parts and materials to purchase order and engineering drawing and inspects parts and materials to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ensures appropriate storage of parts, materials, and chemicals; monitors inventory.
  • Recommends disposition of discrepant detail parts.
  • Inspects test configuration (test articles and test setups) to ensure compliance with engineering drawing and test plan requirements.
  • Ensures appropriate handling of engineering drawings in inspection and shop areas.
  • Assists with preparation and performing static and burn testing.
  • Occasionally fabricates tooling and other shop equipment; sets up and maintains shop machinery.
  • Assists with maintaining neat and orderly shop area.
  • Runs errands as needed for supplies and materials.
  • Ensures safety procedures are followed in shop area and during use of shop equipment.
  • Monitors and coordinates calibration of acceptance instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, load cell, thermometers, etc. as defined by Quality Control Manual.
  • Assists Shop Technicians as needed.
  • Assists office personnel with various tasks as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Design Engineer

Job Summary: Provides engineering support for all aspects of product design and analysis to ensure functionality, quality, cost, qualification, certification, and schedule while complying with engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes invention, imagination, and originality to produce and alter unique design concepts based on verbal or written ideas.
  • Analyzes the risks of new designs to determine the level of structural soundness and communicates approval or disapproval of design to Draftsman.
  • Creates engineering documents for designs, to include processes for testing the product and processes for reporting test results.
  • Builds simulated models of custom-designed products.
  • Coordinates directly with outside customers to discuss design issues, make recommendations for solutions to problems, and obtain customer approval of design.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
